Cotton holds a stitch definition that acrylic blurs, which is why amigurumi faces read better in cotton. Acrylic is softer, cheaper and survives more washes. For a toy that will be chewed and washed weekly, acrylic wins. For one that sits on a shelf, cotton looks sharper.
